Extra, extra... 

No less than three (3!) efforts are underway to build automation systems,
or parts thereof.  FLS starts at circulation... OSDLS is thinking
MARC+RDF... Avanti is aimed at a language-neutral API.  Check the site
for links.

Thanks to Art, Peter, Dave, and Jeroen for pointers, and to mjordan for
the mhonarc tip (the archives are somewhat prettier now).
