[jake-list] jake goings on at ALA Chicago

For folks heading to Chicago, be on the lookout for all things jake and
library software of the free variety.  Among the opportunities to hear
more/chat with developers/schooze with other jake users will be the
following:

o MARS hot topic session, Sat 7/8 (am):

  Kimberly Parker, Donna Stevenson, and I will be speaking at this session
along with many interested others.


o Practical Solutions for Libraries: Open Source Software, Sat 7/8 (pm):
  (more details at http://oss4lib.org)

  LITA's OSSIG is hosting this exciting half-day session, featuring a
keynote from Tim O'Reilly of O'Reilly & Associates (everybody's fave tech
publisher :), along with talks by Peter Schlumpf on Avanti, Jeremy Frumkin
on OSCR and OSDLS, and myself on jake.


o O'Reilly & Associates has _very_ graciously offered space at their booth
in the ALA exhibit hall for several of us oss4lib types (including those
mentioned above) to show off our various projects.  Look for their booth
and stop by to say hi; we're going to do our best to keep our part of the
booth manned through the whole weekend.  Maybe next year we'll get some
tote bags made. :^p


This is all very cool and (to speak for others, whom I expect would agree)
we're very much looking forward to meeting as many folks as possible.  If
you're interested in any of these projects and how you might use them in
your library, or how you might get involved to help make them better, or
what free software is all about in general, this is a great opportunity
for you to find out more.
