The Linux operating system a has become a darling of the media in recent
years.  Once an operating system used only by academics and Unix gurus,
Linux has made inroads in data centers and arrived on the
desktops of many organizations.  This program will focus not on the features
of Linux but rather the support options and costs. Hear what some libraries
are doing with Linux and what it took to get them there. Join us as we cut
through some of the hype surrounding Linux and get down to the nuts and
bolts of supporting Linux in a library setting. For other programs on LINUX
and open source systems see the LITA Microcomputer Users Group program on
Saturday from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and the new LITA Open Source Interest
Group program on Saturday from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
